The Cosmetology Scholarships Accepting Applicants in 2021
Have your cosmetology courses covered by scholarships.
What Cosmetology Scholarships Can I Receive in 2021?
Whether you are a current cosmetology student or are considering enrolling, staying on top of the available student scholarships is a must. Fortunately, cosmetology college is one of the most affordable education options available (four-year universities can be double or triple the cost of cosmetology school). Overall, cosmetology school is one of the most cost-effective training options when looking at the hours required for the cost. However, if you find you are still concerned about paying for a cosmetology education, there is a lot you can do to minimize your costs.
It is essential that you talk to a financial advisor from the school you are interested in or the one you are currently attending. Schools like PJ’s College of Cosmetology have advisors standing by to help you discuss your financial options. Students must always begin by filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to see how they qualify for governmental financial aid. Typically, students will qualify for federal grants or student loans. Veterans Affairs Education Benefits (VA) are available for people who are eligible for veterans benefits.
After going through the FAFSA process, the next step is to research all the scholarships that are available to you. Here are some of the types of scholarships and grants you can be eligible for:
Merit-based: These types of scholarships are awarded based on exceptional skill or to students who display a devotion to their studies. Some institutions also award students based on attendance.
Need-based: These scholarships and grants are typically available to students who can demonstrate a substantial need for financial assistance. These can cover tuition costs fully or partially, along with other associated costs of the program.
Group-specific: The idea behind these types of grants and scholarships is to provide opportunities to underrepresented groups. Applicants generally will belong to a selected demographic, though economic or merit-based variables are often factored into the final decision.
Institutional: These are connected to the institution you will be or are attending. Many schools provide scholarships to the students that attend their programs. This can be based on need, merit, attendance, or another criterion. Schools like PJ’s College of Cosmetology award scholarships on a rolling basis to students.
Corporate and non-profit: There are many educational sponsorships provided by cosmetology and beauty industry companies. Additionally, foundations and non-profits devoted to supporting young industry professionals also award scholarships based on need or merit. Most applications will ask you to submit an essay with your application.
