Have you always dreamed of becoming a hairstylist, colorist, makeup artist, or salon owner? PJ’s College of Cosmetology offers a 1,500-hour cosmetology program at all eleven of our campuses across Indiana and Kentucky. You’ll build skills in hair cutting, hair coloring, texture services, hair styling, facials and makeup, manicuring and pedicuring, hair removal, and sanitation. You’ll also learn the management and sales skills that can help you build a successful career behind the chair.
You’ll learn from experienced instructors who stay up to date on current techniques and trends, then put what you learn into practice with real clients in our student salon. With full-time and part-time schedules and new classes starting throughout the year, you can choose a cosmetology school schedule that works for you. Contact us to begin the enrollment process.
Our cosmetology program gives you the opportunity to train across all three areas of beauty: hair, skin, and nails. Most of your training focuses on the services salon clients request most, including hair cutting, hair coloring, texture services, and hair styling. You’ll also build skills in facials, makeup, manicures, pedicures, and waxing.
Through classroom instruction, instructor demonstrations, and hands-on practice, you’ll learn not just how to perform each service, but why each technique matters.
Your first 250 hours of cosmetology school focus on general theory and practice. During this time, you’ll work on techniques with mannequins and fellow students as you build a strong foundation.
After completing those first 250 hours, you can begin providing services to guests in our student salon under the direct supervision of licensed instructors. Working with real clients gives you the opportunity to sharpen your technique, manage your time, and develop the customer service skills that help build lasting client relationships.
You’ll also work with a variety of salon-quality professional products instead of training with just one product line. This gives you hands-on experience with different products and helps you understand how to choose what works for each service.
At PJ’s College of Cosmetology, you’re more than a number. Our instructors provide one-on-one guidance throughout your training and take the time to help you build both your technical skills and confidence.
You’ll also become part of a welcoming community of classmates who share your interest in beauty. As a family-owned school dedicated to raising the standards of the profession through education, PJ’s focuses on helping each student grow into a prepared, confident beauty professional.
A cosmetology license can open the door to a variety of career paths. You could work as a hairstylist in a salon, specialize in an area such as hair color, manage or own a salon, or work on a cruise ship or at a resort.
You could also take your career in a different direction by becoming a field representative, demonstrator, or educator for a beauty product manufacturer. If teaching interests you, you can continue your education through our Instructor Training program and prepare to teach the next generation of beauty professionals.
You can attend cosmetology school full time for 30 hours per week or choose a part-time schedule of 20 or 24 hours per week, depending on your campus. With flexible scheduling options, you can choose a pace that works with your life and responsibilities.
Every PJ’s campus has its own personality and community. Schedule a tour at the campus you’re considering to explore the facilities, learn more about the cosmetology program, and meet our instructors and students.
