Our Mission

The mission of PJ’s College of Cosmetology is to educate students in the art of cosmetology and encourage the development of creative hair design, nail design techniques, and skin care. Graduates will be knowledgeable in the methodology and have the practical skills necessary to sit before the State Board of Cosmetology for licensing. PJ’s College is dedicated to improving the standards of our profession through education.

We want them to foster attitudes of trustworthiness. At PJ’s, we try to contribute to our students’ developing responsibility, self-control, self-discipline, and self-direction. We want to create a family atmosphere where students feel like they belong and have a sense of self-worth.

We also take a wider view, helping our students understand the problems and obligations of our community. We hope to foster an appreciation of the beauty industry and help each student become aware of the professional demands and needs of the industry. As we teach and guide them, we hope they learn the job skills they will need to know in their future careers and develop desirable social skills, so they can interact well with others.

While you may see a PJ’s location listed in Carmel, there is not a beauty school campus at this location, as that location is where our corporate office is located. The nearest campuses to Carmel, Indiana are located in Indianapolis, Brownsburg, Plainfield, and Greenfield, Indiana.

How does PJ's prepare students for real careers in the beauty industry?

Our students practice their skills in the student salon. Each campus has a student salon that provides hair, skin, and nail services to members of the community. This is built to mimic an actual salon setting equipped with professional products and tools that students may use in their future careers. All services provided by students are under the supervision of licensed professionals.
